On 31 October 2026, Angathe Charitable Organisation celebrated its 8th anniversary at Fermak Cottage Beach in Salima. As part of the celebrations, the organisation conducted a soap-making training aimed at equipping women with practical skills that can help them generate income and improve their livelihoods.
The training was attended by approximately 50 women participating in the organisation’s Social and Economic Empowerment Programme. The initiative forms part of Angathe’s ongoing commitment to empowering women and promoting self-reliance within communities.
Speaking during the event, Angathe Deputy Director, Ms. Melyna Mgode, described the training as a dream come true for many of the women. She expressed hope that participants would apply both the practical skills gained through the training and the Christian values they have been learning through the programme to create sustainable sources of income for their families and communities.
Ms. Mgode also stressed that equipping women with entrepreneurial skills increases household incomes and builds stronger, more resilient communities. The women also received Bibles from Transworld World Radio for use in their group Bible studies.
Angathe Charitable Organisation is a faith-based charitable organisation dedicated to empowering women and vulnerable groups to live lives of purpose and fulfilment.
